Marceau is a fairly reserved and calm man for the most part. He is very confident in his abilities, and rightfully so. He is a leader, and has a very strategic mind, always observant for a person’s strengths and weaknesses. He has a will of stone, and once he sets his mind to something, nothing will stop him from achieving it. When he enters a room, everyone knows he has entered, for he has an aura of authority and power. Unfortunately, due to his history with his home country, he is skeptical of those around him, for concern over potential agents coming after him into Vale. This does not stop him from making friends, but it is difficult for him to fully trust anyone. He rarely becomes truly angry, but when he does, it is a slow burning anger that can flare at any time, and he holds a grudge fairly easily.
Appearance:
Marceau is a rather handsome man with light brown hair and deep orange, almost red, eyes. He stands about 6 feet tall (183cm) and has rather broad shoulders. He has a large build, but is all muscle. When he isn't wearing his armour, he normally wears a simple t-shirt and jeans, not particularly caring about his appearence. He normally has a goatee and a military-style buzz cut.

Semblance:
Marceau's semblance forms a dome around him that is able to absorb energy from attacks, storing it within his body for a short amount of time. It does this by transforming the energy from an attack into a type of storable aura, which is then temporarily attatched to his own. He can then turn this aura back into energy, and expel it in the form of pure force. He can only store the energy for a few seconds before having to get rid of it, and if he tries to contain it longer, it will cause him serious internal damage. He is able to use this only once in a ten minute period before having to "recharge", and again, if he tries to push it, it can cause him serious damage. He rarely needs to use his semblance, and will only use it as a last resort in the event that his defenses fail.

Bio:
Marceau was born in a kingdom independent from the “Big Four”, called Valradia. The son of a noble, he was sent at age 10 to train to join the Royal Guard. He served in the king’s service until he was 22, and was recognized for his fighting prowess. He even helped stop a coup d'etat in the Capitol, when a group of high-ranking generals tried to seize power. After he was honourably discharged, he retained his arms and armour as gifts from the king at the time. One year later, the king was assassinated, and his brother rose to power. His brother suspected the Royal Guard to have taken part in the assassination, and he began a crackdown on the organization, executing a total of fifty-three men and imprisoning over one hundred more. Marceau, under increasing surveillance and run-ins with authorities, fled the country to Vale, in order to protect his life. He has lived there ever since, taken in by the Hunter community due to his fighting prowess and extensive training. He has worked as a Hunter for six years, and has developed ties with Beacon Academy, becoming friends with some of the teachers there.

Battle attire:
Marceau wears heavy, European-style armour when he fights. The armour is red, with white accents, and covers most of his body. The only part of him that isn’t covered is his head, as he wears no helmet. He does, however, have a sort of neck guard that comes up and flares out slightly about halfway up his neck, protecting him from attacks that might come if an enemy got under his guard. His gauntlets are scaled plate, whereas the rest of it is plate armour with a light chain mail underneath. He has grown used to the extra weight, and wears it mostly everywhere he goes unless there is a special occasion.
Fighting style:
Marceau’s defense is simply superb. It is the main aspect of his fighting style, and an enemy will be hard pressed to get by his defense. He fights by remaining fairly still and allowing the enemy to assault him until they leave an opening, then striking, most of the time ending the fight with one blow. He retains much of his energy until later in the fight, when his opponent has tired themselves out by trying to get past his guard.

Weapon Description:
Marceau’s first weapon is a four-foot, double-edged sword that he wields with only one hand. It is a much lighter blade, enabling him to swing it quicker than it would seem he could. It has a release button in the center of the crossguard, allowing him to use Dust with the blade. The pommel unscrews, revealing a compartment where Dust can be stored in the handle of the weapon. Marceau almost exclusively uses kinetic Dust in this compartment, rarely ever loading it with anything else. He wields the blade in his right hand, and it is stored in a sheathe built into the top of his shield.
His second weapon is a large
shield in the shape of a cross. Marceau keeps the bottom point of the cross sharpened so it can also be used as a weapon. The shield also incorporates Dust into it, able to use kinetic Dust in order to protect Marceau even further. He uses it in the event he is defending against a large attack, anchoring him in place and able to prevent him from being knocked back. This is activated by a button on a small handle that is built into the interior of the shield. This handle is held while it is in use, and it allows for increased mobility with the shield, as well as easy access to the Dust release. He wields the shield on his left arm, and it covers about three-fifths of his body if stood up in front of him.

Family:
Marceau has wealthy, noble parents in Valdrad, as well as a younger sister. His entire family is back in his home country, though, and he hasn’t seen them for 8 years.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
He is strong and tough, able to take a pounding and still continue fighting. He constantly observes his enemies, and is able to anticipate enemies’ movements very well. His reaction time is also something to be commended, as he was required to quickly react to any situation as a part of his Guard training. His fighting style relies a lot on preventing the enemy from breaking through his defense, so if an enemy does break through, he is unable to fight very effectively at extremely close range. He also lacks any ranged capabilities, therefore creating a problem against an enemy that has a firearm or other ranged weapon.
